INSPIRATION #9 TM

Turn off your mind, relax and float down stream...

The word is meditation!! Turning your attention within and getting comfortable with yourself from the inside and out. There is unbounded potential and power deep within each of us. And we can access that power into our lives through meditation. I will almost go as far as saying it is our duty as members of the human race to explore this potential.

Why live a stressed out, fearful life when you can live a wise, peaceful and joyful life?

We have all heard them, these funny little lines that points to the direction of inner knowledge. You know them: Know thy self - The kingdom of heaven lies within, Peace starts with you etc. But it isn't until you give yourself the experience of the inner realm that it begins to mean something deeper to you.

TM is the most scientifically proven form of meditation practice we know of. It stems from India and its founder was Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (1914–2008). TM achieved global reach in the 1960s and continues to expand powerfully spearheaded by film-maker David Lynch, quantum physicist John Hagelin and Clint Eastwood to name a few.

Transcendental Meditation technique is a simple, natural, effortless process
practiced 15–20 minutes twice daily while sitting comfortably with eyes closed.
It is unique among techniques of meditation, distinguished by its effortlessness,
naturalness and profound effectiveness.

I am so grateful for my masters teaching me to look within. Writers, poets and not least spiritual teachers. TM (Transcendental Meditation) is such a simple practice and is now taught all over the world, thanks to the TM organization and people like David Lynch working hard to spread it as far as possible, making an immense change in the schools and in children's lives, even in prisons, homeless people's centers and now also training military veterans suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

The benefits are widely documented and scientifically proven. I will just highlight a few of the best ones. Transcendental Meditation:

• Gives the body peace to regenerate and attain maximum rest

• Regenerates the brain functioning (basically improves your focus, attention, memory, thinking etc)

• Boosts your confidence, empathy and relationships (basically makes you more happy)

• Activates the unified field (the sea of pure consciousness) which brings unbounded creative potential into your life.

The only objection I have to TM is why it has to be so expensive.
TM should be government financed and be part of the school curriculum.
It should be made available to anyone wishing to meditate.

You can read much more about TM and how to learn the technique here:

ENJOY!!

INSPIRATION #8 John & Yoko

When it comes to world class peace activism I can't think of a better example than John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Just turn your mind back to the late sixties when John and Yoko started using their position of being in the public eye to spread positive peace messages.

Needless to say they attracted a mammoth sized media zest that has captivated generations. Perhaps mainly due to John's popularity from being a member of the Beatles. It is inspirational to this day and deeply touching the way they used their success to campaign for peace.

Think only of their honeymoon Bed-Ins of 1969 singing "Give Peace A Chance" surrounded by the world press. Later that year the "WAR IS OVER" Christmas slogan campaigns appeared. And by the time we heard John Lennon's beautiful testament to world peace "Imagine" everyone was sold.

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Yoko Ono for Glass Magazine (the article is featured in the Promise issue out now) and it was like a dream come true. Her dedication to the cause of peace is simple but fierce. A true inspiration.

She explained that when she witnessed the tragedy of Hiroshima and Nagasaki she was only a little girl. However the impact of that moment was all encompassing. It displayed human cruelty, so obscene, that peace became the only answer, the only truly important resolution for human survival. Something worth "fighting" for. Throughout her staggering life and artistic career Yoko Ono's motivation has remained the same; that of wanting to see the human race survive in good faith, as for the good of all living things on this planet.

Her Imagine Peace Tower near Reykjavík, Iceland bears evidence of her simple philosophy. Ono created the tower in memory of John. It consists of a tower of light projected into the sky from a white stone monument where the words "Imagine Peace" are carved into it in 24 languages. Buried underneath the light tower are 500,000 written wishes that Ono has gathered from people across the globe over the past 20 years. With such a breathtaking beacon of hope shooting into the universe for peace, reminding us of humanity’s immense creative and magical potential, Yoko Ono at the age of 77 proves the optimist. And shows us that you have to keep fighting for what you believe in.

Who knows what kind of work John would have been involved in today had he been around. Im positive he would have continued alongside Yoko spreading messages of peace, love and hope to the people.

All there's left to say is: Thank you John for all you gave. Thank you Yoko for all you are giving.

INSPIRATION #7 Deepak Chopra

Deepak Chopra is an inspirational spiritual teacher and health guru within ayurvedic mind-body medicine. He has written over 50 books published worldwide. He founded the Chopra Center and the Chopra Foundation and has his own radio show broadcasted on Sirius xm.

I'd like to recommend two titles of the Chopra's books I've read. He is a productive and prolific writer and there is a long list of amazing books to chose from. However the first one I'd like to mention is The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.

This is a fairly thin book, a practical guide to fulfillment of your dreams... for any beginner. For anyone wishing to get the most out of their lives and see their desires and heart fulfilled.
It could also be called the seven spiritual laws of life. The book concerns the knowledge of consciousness, it gives you the ability to create unlimited wealth with effortless ease, and to experience success in every endeavor.

I've found it very exciting to wake up to a practical list of how to fulfill my desires every day. Committing to follow the principles in this book is something we can all do and will all benefit from. I wont reveal more at this point.. just read it is all I can say!

The Way Of The Wizard

A wizard exists in all of us.
This wizard sees and knows everything.
The wizard is beyond opposites of light and dark, good and evil, pleasure and pain.
Everything the wizard sees has its roots in the unseen world.
Nature reflects the mood of the wizard.
The body and the mind may sleep, but the wizard is always awake.
The wizard possesses the secret of immortality.

Just a small sample from the book, The Way of The Wizard. I love the way Chopra has used the legend of the boy Arthur who lived with the last wizard Merlin in a crystal cave receiving the wisdom of alchemy as a child, stepping into the realm of magic and legends when the boy becomes King Arthur of  Camelot.

This book is a transient read... It succeeds in transcending legend. I actually cried when I reached the end of this book. It felt like I was receiving the holy grail (with the knights in the forest) when Merlin, the last wizard shows (or talks) about the true meaning of the holy grail, of alchemy, of turning base metal into gold. Beautiful. The story is one of mythology. It is the ultimate hero story that all of us can follow and relate to. It really resonates with my heart and just thinking about it makes me want to read it again.
Being in the company of Merlin is as comforting as intense.

When the student is ready the teacher will appear, and when the teacher is
ready the Master will appear, and when the Master is complete he will look no
further because he will have arrived at the beginning and realized that he was a
Wizard all along.

I just found this youtube series online: The Crystal Cave where Deepak Chopra talks about the Way of the Wizard and the legend of Merlin and King Arthur of Camelot. ENJOY!!
